Koopa Paratroopas are a variety of Koopa that possess wings and are capable of flight. They have appeared in Super Mario Bros. and many other Mario games since. They typically come in red and green varieties; the green Paratroopas usually fly in one direction only or they jump along the ground, whereas red Paratroopas fly in either a horizontal or vertical patrol pattern. If Mario jumps on a Koopa Paratroopa, it will lose its wings and become a normal Koopa Troopa. Other attacks such as fireballs or thrown Koopa shells tend to kill them outright.
