Charmander is a first-generation Fire-type Pokémon. Originally discovered in Kanto, it is commonly bred by humans and given to new Trainers as their starter Pokémon.

Charmander appears as a small bipedal lizard with smooth orange skin and a cream-coloured belly. A flame constantly burns at the tip of its tail and intensifies when the Charmander is happy or excited. The flame will diminish if a Charmander is weakened in battle and if it is extinguished altogether, the Charmander will die. As such, Charmander will usually steer clear of large bodies of water. Their preferred terrain is hot, mountainous areas, such as active volcanoes.

Below is a list of some of the abilities commonly used by Charmander.
- Ember - Charmander scatters hot ashes with its tail. Has a 10% chance of burning the target.
- Scratch - A simple physical attack; Charmander scratches opponents with its small claws.
- Smokescreen - Charmander expels a cloud of smoke from its mouth to obscure an enemy's vision.
- Flamethrower - Charmander breathes a stream of fire to burn enemies.
Evolution[]
Charmander evolves into Charmeleon at Level 16.
